While I didn't do enough research about beauty boutiques before arriving in the Golden Gate's hometown, that oversight actually worked out, since driving past a stand-alone
Shu Uemura store was enough to induce severe beauty whiplash. In a good way.

After all, there's not very many stores in the entire world--the rest are quietly nestled into department stores.

Getting to pour over the lashes, cleansing oils and host of candy-coloured shadow and lipstick shades was incredibly satisfying, especially with the famous lash bar taking centre stage.

The packaging of Japanese designer
Tsumori Chisato's collection was adorable--as a huge fan of Le
Petit Prince (it was the required reading for a French course I took in Paris when I was 18 and I own it in English, French and Italian)--I was totally enchanted. The shades are bold and
Shu-like, but a little too heavy on the shimmer for my liking. But my soft spot for any sort of star
arrangement had me admiring the black case.

I made it out with a jar of the
Face Architect Remodeling Cream Foundation SPF 10 Sunscreen and the corresponding
Natural 18 Goat Brush. While I'll probably never be able to mimic the buffed out, clean-skin look that the artist created on me, I'll die trying. She showed me how to use quick, circular strokes to create an "airbrushed" finish. Now I want to go back for the powder. And other brush.

I want to get my hands on Shu's eyebrow pencils! I hear that they have to sharpen them, the old school way with a blade.
Beauty whiplash! Love it! And wow, how did you make it out before closing time? So much to look at. And again, I love your contextual details -- only four stand-alone Shu boutiques in the world (I didn't know that). I'm also completely taken with Tsumori Chisato's holiday collection for Shu -- enchanting.
I was in there for an hour and a half, I think. There was so much to do on that strip. I love the Tsumori collection! Wish I picked up that little case--but you have to stop somewhere.
I love Shu Uemura! I've been wanting to try the Face Architect Remodeling Cream. I'm currently using their Smoothing Fluid Foundation and while I like it, I would like something with SPF and more coverage. Do you still like it after using it for a while?
Also, I have to correct this -- there are more then four Shu Uemura boutiques worldwide. In Hong Kong alone, there are nine stand alone stores. I've been to a few of them.
Hey Yulanda!
Me too! I'm loving the Face Architect Remodeling Cream--oddly though, it's little drying (and I have oily skin) so you need to make sure you moisturize adequately beforehand, with something rich. The coverage is great--you can dab it with the brush for a little more to cover redness, and it totally subs in for concealer if it needs to.
Thanks for the correction! I'll make the change now.
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I definitely need to get myself a jar of this foundation!
